Loyal Cat Refuses To Leave Bedside Of Dying Woman Who Raised Her

Trooper the cat has loved one woman unconditionally for many years — 96-year-old Sarah Whaley.

Way back in 2014, Alexis Hackney and her family found Trooper while they were flipping a house. They could hear her meowing from the basement and went to investigate. “She was inside the wall, and my mom and sister had to get a sledgehammer, and bust out the sheet-rock and get her,” Alexis went on to explain. “She was about 2 weeks old. Her eyes were barely open.”

They decided to take the kitten home with her where she formed a close bond with their grandmother Sarah who lived with them. The family hadn’t realised just how close the two had become until Sarah became ill.

Toward the very end, Trooper slept on her bed most of the time and was constantly bringing her special gifts from around the house. When Sarah sadly passed away Trooper was absolutely inconsolable. “She stopped eating. She’s not a very vocal cat, but she was just walking around the house, crying all of the time.”

Trooper is doing a lot better now but misses Sarah a lot.

This story proves that cats certainly do have feelings and care very much about the humans they share their lives with.
