Meet “Yoda Cat”: A Rescue Story of Hope and Healing
At a North Carolina veterinary clinic, a kitten with ears reminiscent of the beloved Star Wars character, Yoda, captured the hearts of the staff from the moment she was brought in. This endearing feline was found wandering alone, and upon her rescue, she was found to be battling an upper respiratory infection along with a wound on her neck.
A Journey to Recovery
The Cabarrus Animal Hospital became her refuge, where the compassionate care of Dr. Alisha Kidwell, DVM, and the team began to turn her fate around. Jana Aviles, a dedicated veterinary assistant at the clinic, shared insights into the kitten’s sweet and affectionate nature. “Despite her uncertain age, she’s believed to be about a year old, though her petite frame might suggest otherwise,” said Jana. This charming little cat, weighing in at just under seven pounds, has a unique quirk—she often sticks out her tongue, a result of missing teeth, which only adds to her irresistible charm.
The kitten’s fondness for human interaction is evident. She revels in the warmth of cuddles and has a particular affection for snuggling into the cozy confines of the staff’s hoodies, where she drifts off to sleep, much like a content baby kangaroo.
“Although she can be quiet and a tad shy, she transforms into a tiny cuddle-bug the moment you caress her—a true lap cat,” Jana described with evident fondness.

The staff at the hospital are still deliberating on a formal name for this furry friend, but the nickname “Yoda Cat” has affectionately taken hold, a testament to her distinctive ears and the instant connection she makes with anyone who meets her.
